I was looking for a bleach-free solution to toilet-bowl cleaning, since bleach eats away at porcelain finish over time, and found this. It does a great job of cleaning the toilet, but I found that I have more mildew growth than before. Living in a hot, humid climate, this is a big concern.A little bit goes a long way, so despite the high price, it seems about the same in value as other cleaners. The smell is quite strong but not unpleasant. It’s a cleaner. It doesn’t have a strong smell, which I appreciate. I am used to liquid cleaners prior to going more eco-friendly, so I think it is just taking time to get used to the little beads rather than a smoother consistency.I have used other foaming cleansers and have been sorely disappointed. This cleanser is amazing! Who knew one could get excited about a toilet bowl cleanser? You sprinkle a small amount of the cleanser on the surface of the water and the foaming begins. The instructions indicate to clean the toilet bowl with a brush and flush once, and that's what I did. The product does have a slight "chemical" smell, but it wasn't bad. I am sensitive to strong smells/fragrances, so I used the product with the bathroom window open. There's no need to ever use another product for this purpose.I really wanted to love this…. And honestly it is good. The concept is a game changer for general hand soap. It cleans well, smells good, and feels nice on your skin. My issue with it, is that although it is intending to be a green alternative, and they advertise that the steel canister is refillable…. I can’t find any refill powder to put in it. Given the shipping weight vs plastic, it’s questionable if this is actually better in that regard. Also, it’s way too expensive vs a good liquid soap. If the price comes down and it becomes refillable…. I would definitely consider making this switch. Not a good cleaner. wasted money.I like that you have to use this product a certain way in order to get a lather. I like to wet my hands first then pour the grains out. It starts off feeling a bit sandy like a gentle exfoliation. Then it works up a rich creamy lather. Once I start rinsing it foams up nicely. You really have to go through the cleansing process with this product. The folks in my house are not good hand washers and I hate it so much. They ignore my complaints, but this soap has encouraged me to try a new tactic. I’m going to casually replace The pump soaps with this soap to encourage better washing. You really have to do it right to get a good lather, and it’s thick too. I really hope it works. The powder is very fine and I find I breath it into my nose while applying it. I tried wearing a face mask, but my cloth one wasn't enough of a barrier. I chose this because my nose burns when I use products with fragrance, but the irritation from the airborne powder i worse than mild fragrance. Instead I will continue to make my own - I make a 2:1:1 ratio of baking soda, Dawn and water. The Dawn has fragrance which isn't ideal, but it's diluted and far less irritating than this airborne soap powder.Con: it’s is a weak cleaner in comparison to other products. I left it on the surface awhile after it foamed. Stains were hard to scrub off that other cleaners remove easily. Pro: it is easy to use. The lid comes off. There are a.number of perforations in the metal. The material pours out of the holes easily—no shaking needed. If using this product you have to clean a lot more often, not letting stains build up. The cleaner is just not strong enough for a moderate and certainly not a heavy stain job.
